We have something to celebrate! Amazon has donated $100,000 of unrestricted funding to Byrd Barr Place in a major show of support for the Central District and broader Seattle community.
We are grateful for any and all support we receive to advance our mission of building stability and self-sufficiency in Seattle’s Central District, and are especially thankful for unrestricted funding donations. Unrestricted funding is imperative to our success as it provides us the flexibility to use funds as we see fit. This trust in our team and vision is invaluable to the success and longevity of Byrd Barr Place.
All funds donated by Amazon will be going to our Moving Together capital campaign for our building renovation. Through summer 2022, the historic Byrd Barr Place firehouse will be undergoing much needed renovations to make sure we can continue to meet the needs of our community for years and generations to come. All donations made to the Moving Together capital campaign contribute to our ability to create a safe, accessible, and welcoming space for the Central District community to thrive, while preserving a cultural anchor for the Black community since the 1960s.
Over the years, Amazon has also supported Byrd Barr Place through its AmazonSmile program, which allows people to designate us as their charity of choice and Amazon donates a percentage of people’s purchases to our organization.
If you are an Amazon shopper, you can easily sign up to participate in the program. Simply do your Amazon shopping at smile.amazon.com, and Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to the organization of your choosing.
To see the organization you are contributing to, log on to smile.amazon.com, click on the “Supporting” option in your toolbar. To change the organization you are supporting, click the “change” link next to the name of the organization to which you are currently contributing.

Click the “Select” button to select Byrd Barr Place as your organization of choice.
