The (LIHEAP) Energy Assistance Program is closing this Friday, June 28. The program will reopen next Fall on October 15th.

Byrd Barr Place is introducing an easier way to apply to the Energy Assistance Program with our NEW online application!

After you apply you can check the status of your grant and find out how much you were awarded.

Keep your heat and lights on.

Winter heating bills are costly. Instead of worrying about which bills to pay, let Byrd Barr Place help. On average, households receive $307 to help pay energy bills.

Byrd Barr Place’s Energy Assistance Program provides financial assistance to help eligible households pay their annual heating costs. We offer two energy assistance programs.

  • A federal program that provides household assistance with electric, gas, wood, propane, or oil.
  • Applicants must be at or below 125% of Federal Poverty Guidelines (see eligibility).
  • Payments range from $100 to $1000.
  • Applications are accepted from October to June, as funding is available.

PSE HELP (Puget Sound Energy Home Energy Lifeline Program)

  • Provides assistance for eligible Puget Sound Energy customers who use natural gas and live in Seattle.
  • Applicants must be at or below 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines (see eligibility).
  • Payments range from $100 to $1000.
  • Applications are accepted once a year between October to September.
  • Puget Sound Energy customers can apply to both the LIHEAP Program and the PSE HELP Program.
