Byrd Barr Place’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has closed for the season. We will no longer be accepting applications for energy assistance for electric, oil, wood, or propane as we have spent all of our allotted funds.
If you know clients who recently submitted an application, they will be informed in the next 2 weeks on the status of their application and whether they received funding. If the applicant is unsure of their application status, please contact our main office to check after July 9th.
We anticipate re-opening the program in the fall, pending federal funding. That will be a new “Program Year” and all clients will be eligible to apply at that time. For updated information on when the program will open, visit Byrd Barr Place’s Energy Assistance page.
This year we served 7,630 households with an average benefit of $307. In total, Byrd Barr Place distributed over $2.5 million in LIHEAP funds to low income Seattle residents. Thank you to all of our fabulous partner organizations for all your help in facilitating the energy assistance process.
