As I reflect on the essence of Byrd Barr Place, I’m reminded that it’s not just about the programs we offer, it’s about how this place, and the people in it, make you feel. There’s something deeply powerful in that.
It’s how, day by day, we care for the most vulnerable in our community: providing groceries and warm smiles to our elders; ensuring that an unhoused client who comes to us for food may also be in need of medical care, underscoring the deep, interconnected needs we strive to meet each day; or offering a mother just a few more diapers and wipes to help her make it through the month. These moments are quiet, but they are profound. They are the heartbeat of our work.
In Uncertain Times, You Give Us Hope
As we all continue to face layoffs and other significant cuts to essential services, this season can feel daunting. But we have hope at Byrd Barr Place, because of all of you. Your continued support, belief, and solidarity help us keep showing up with compassion and care when it matters most.
We are holding onto that hope as we look forward to our upcoming Gala not only as a fundraiser, but as a celebration of you. A chance to relax a little, dance a little, and uplift this beautiful work that we do together.
