Honoring the Heart of Our Work

A Thank You to Byrd Barr Place Volunteers

As National Volunteer Appreciation Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to

express our deepest gratitude to the people who truly help power our mission forward every

single day. At Byrd Barr Place, our volunteers are more than just supporters. They are the heart

and soul of our work, showing up with compassion, dedication, and a commitment to community

that makes everything we do possible.

In The Market, our volunteers play an essential role in ensuring that thousands of community

members can access healthy, culturally relevant food in a space rooted in dignity and care.

From stocking shelves to greeting clients, from organizing supplies to offering a warm smile,

their presence transforms what could simply be a service into a meaningful experience.

Because of our volunteers, we are able to serve more families, reach more neighbors, and

create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and respected. Quite simply, we would

not be able to serve as many clients as we do without them.

Beyond The Market, our volunteers bring energy and joy to our community events. Whether it is

helping set up, engaging with families, or making sure every detail runs smoothly, they help

create spaces where people can connect, celebrate, and feel a sense of belonging. These

moments matter. They remind us that community is not just about meeting needs, but about

building relationships and creating experiences that uplift and inspire.

We also want to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to our Board of Directors. While often

working behind the scenes, our board members are dedicated volunteers who give their time,

expertise, and leadership to ensure Byrd Barr Place continues to grow and thrive. They

advocate for our mission, open doors in spaces we may not always have access to and help

elevate the voice of our organization in critical conversations. Their commitment strengthens our

foundation and helps guide our future.

Volunteering is an act of generosity, but it is also an act of belief. Our volunteers believe in the

work we do, in the people we serve, and in the vision of a more equitable and connected

community. That belief shows up in every hour given, every task completed, and every

interaction shared with care.

On this final day of National Volunteer Appreciation Month, we want to say thank you. Thank

you for your time, your energy, your leadership, and your heart. Thank you for standing with

Byrd Barr Place and for helping us continue to show up for our community in meaningful ways.

We are grateful for each and every one of you, and we look forward to continuing this work

together.

With gratitude,

Byrd Barr Place
